Keynote 1
"Security and Safety using open source hardware, the story so far" - Frank K. Gürkaynak, PULP Team / ETH Zürich
Bio: Frank has obtained his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degree from Istanbul Technical University and his Ph.D. from ETH Zürich. He currently is a senior scientist working on computer architectures in the group of Luca Benini and director of the Microelectronics Design Center at ETH Zürich. He has been involved in the Parallel Ultra Low Power (PULP) platform project since its start in 2013 and has been a vocal advocate for open source activities.
Abstract: As part of the PULP team we have been working on open source hardware since 2013. In this talk, I will go through some of the achievements (and disappointments) we had with topics related to security and safety and highlight what opportunities we see that open source approaches bring to our research in these fields, and what challenges still remain.
Keynote 2
"Open Source RISC-V in Security and Safety" - Florian 'Flo' Wohlrab, CEO OpenHW Group
Bio: Flo is the CEO of the OpenHW Group and international not-for-Profit organization dedicated to curate and maintain high quality, industrial grade, open source RISC-V Cores. Flo is fascinated by RISC-V and help to smoothen accessibility to high quality RISC-V and help promote the RISC-V ISA worldwide. He is also one of the first RISC-V International Ambassadors. Before leading the OpenHW Group Flo was Head of Sales for a commercial RISC-V provider where he took care of the markets in Japan, Europe and Middle East.
Abstract: Can you take open Source RISC-V and put it in a commercial Security application? How can you trust it? What are the implications and where to get this RISC-V Cores from? In this talk Flo, CEO of the non-profit OpenHW Group, will answer most of this question and introduce how the OpenHW Group enables a collaboration on RISC-V for industrial usage while keeping it open source and making it ready for Safety and Security applications (and he might tell us where they used already..).
